Cimarosa South African Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon
Will be going to Lidl tomorrow to buy some wine and some mushrooms lol as I need them to make a venison pie. now come to think of it the Merlot will go well with it!!
Yes, a drop of Merlot will do wonders for your venison pie @JustJoy I'm off to Lidl tomorrow too! It all depends on what you want to pay @richardk7127 a bottle of wine at £2.99 hardly covers the tax due per bottle to HMRC! I have to say that there are very few wines (actually, maybe none!) from Lidl that haven't been good. I thought the St Emilion 'Grand Cru' at Christmas was super and incredible value at £10.99 - they didn't have any more when I visited on Thursday! a higher price does not neccesarily mean a 'better' wine, of course! However, bearing in mind the tax per bottle, very 'cheap' wine doesn't allow much to actually be spent on the quality of the wine itself. The 'experts' reckon that, on average, the best quality/price point is round about £10 at the moment! Whatever all you Lidlers choose - enjoy! @homebaker -cheers!
I like a white wine and hubby red. We both have the Conde Noble @ just over £3. We were actually introduced to this wine by a member o staff at a Lidl lunch that 5 of us were invited too. @homebaker
Actually, @harryflatters it was priced lower than that 3 years ago.... so even cheaper then!!!
Well the pie filling is made, with a good glug or three of Merlot, we bought 6 bottles, and I see that the there is a special on a white wine of the same brand next weekend...
This was definitely a good buy @JustJoy wish I'd bought another couple of bottles. I like red wine but all too often it can give me the jitters or just make me feel sleepy so I rarely have more than one glass and always with a meal. This was just great though, very smooth, nice flavour only 13% and no after effects.
