Help Lidl make the best of Christmas by taking part in our Christmas Insight Group

Community Manager

Hi Lidlers,

Lidl are planning ahead this year, to ensure we’re ready to serve up a great Christmas for our customers.

This week, we will be setting up a special group where we will be asking you a few questions to help give us an insight into your approach to Christmas. This will help us with our plans for Christmas on My Lidl and potentially in Lidl’s wider campaign too.

If you’re interested in taking part, go here, scroll down to the bottom and click the button to request to join the Christmas Insight Group. We look forward to chatting Christmas with you!

Best Wishes,

My Lidl Team

⛄️ Good idea, I'm a planner,  always thinking ahead...... and making a list about it! Planning chritmas now sounds good to me! 🎄

I just hope that previous posts on the subject of Christmas have been read. Like Nic - PLAN, and DO NOT worry.

It all depends on what is required within this group. If it is the usual 'what do you do?' with no apparent motive then perhaps it is early, but if it has a motive, perhaps quotes for the Lidl mag regarding certain products, finding out when we buy items so they can sort out shelf stocking, or telling us about changes to recipes then that is good or even too late.

For a new product (food or non-food)

This could take 18 months or longer! The design of packaging and product can happen in parallel.

For a Christmas food product, the aim is to get it into taste tests by companies in September/October - those mince pie taste tests need to have the product so that Lidl is top of the list otherwise who is going to buy them? If a product is being sourced from overseas then it has to reach the UK in time to be on the shelves for Christmas, so discussions need to be held earlier than a UK sourced product.

The biggest problem is not having enough product on the shelves at the time advertising goes live - remember the snowy lodge mince pies - won the taste test then nothing on the shelves. A better idea was the lobsters (bit small), good advertising, in stock, major press articles all at the right time.

Good idea. To find out what your customers want, just ask them!

Hopefully then you'll accomodate me as someone who doesn't partake in xmas, birthdays etc (I don't understand them).

The amount of stress & sheer "rammed down your throat" makes me leave shops till its all over, which sadly can reflect a 6 month period in a garden centre for instance, christmas is one day, & thats th day we observe relaxation, no contact, ..tangible pleasure not frenetic activity, ...it has health benefits.

Happy to give some insight in whatever you wish to get opinion to form strategy.
