Next week I am working full time so decided to cook our meals in advance today! Now I am sitting with a g&t feeling smug
Cottage pie topped with root vegetable mash x 2 -one for us and one for my parents.
Chilli con carne x 2-one for now, one for the freezer
Beef stew with stout- one for now, one for the freezer
Fish pie-only one
We shall cheat on Friday and have fish and chips
I have also blanched and frozen broccoli, caulifower and beans.
Oh and I cooked our Sunday dinner!
Think I deserve my g&t

Sadly no room in the freezer here to do that @mrsblazer would love to do some batch cooking/baking, it sure does help! Don't even know why the freezer is full as we don't buy much frozen food. There isn't even any ice cream in it 😞
Enjoy your well deserved G&T 😀

Our effort small in comparison but enjoyable nevertheless. Lidl pork shoulder steaks Scottish, pack of four, 2 large carrots , Scottish. Lidl, one cut in roundels one baton ( his & hers) tin Campbell's condensed mushroom, all done in the slow cooker. Also from Lidl served with new potatoes, cauliflower and surprisingly nice Brussels sprouts. Usually just her indoors has them. The meat was done on a low setting after an hour on high, the meal was delicious, half the caulli left, will have tomorrow, with six oz. Burgers from etsco. @mrsblazer@harryflatters@Jade@Stixxee vegetarians can just omit the pork shoulder steaks and substitute vegetarians stuff, porn?

Well done @mrsblazer.
Just think after a long hard day you will be able to come home put the food into to warm and just relax for the evening.
It was worth the hard work and having the g& t was well deserved, I hope it was a very large one
I don't do many extra meals because it gives me something to do. Having said that I do have things like Bolognaise, Cottage Pie, Meat pies all ready in the freezer, so if I am not up to cooking we have something we can just take out of the freezer.
Like you cook for your parents @mrsblazer I also have a few meals ready to pass down for Dad as well. I've made him a couple of Quiche, a roast dinner and a bolognaise today. That will carry him through until mid week in case I can't get to him or vice versa.

Need to keep on top as entertaining on Saturday! Our 'hockey' son and his fiancee are coming to talk about their wedding
At the moment I am debating between pate or french onion soup for starters followed by coq au vin served with green beans, baby coen and creamed leek mash, then a choice of creme caramel ala Lidl or meringues with raspberries and cream, finishing with a cheese board, coffee and mints.

Sounds delicious @mrsblazer
Just as well your address isn't public or there would be a large crowd banging at your door!
Do you make or buy the pate? I have never made it as there aren't many who would eat it here. (Have made smoked mackerel pate but I don't think it's the same is it? Although it is nice.)
Sounds like something to look forward to, wedding plans and good food 😀

I have made it in the past @Stixxee but not this week. Mackerel pate is delicious and we always have a pot of that in the freezer for emergencies
Both our sons are married and this young man ihas been part of our lives for a long time and we are really honoured that he wants us to be involved with the wedding plans .

I think that's really lovely @mrsblazer, I always said you were lovely people.
@Jade posted a lovely recipe for leek and potato soup last year and it was really straightforward as well as delicious.
The Eton Mess in Lidl is a delicious choice for dessert, it is light enough for after a full meal.
